NAFA Grad Expectations 2020 Pitch Winner
In pitching a graduation show theme to our cohort, we decided that we wanted to stray from previous themes that mainly used graphic design to convey a certain mood. We wanted to show to be conceptual and have a story, while still doing its job of attracting industry professionals and members of the general public to attend our show.
In collaboration with SGDS
While we wanted to create work that increased attendance at The 2020 Grad Expectations, we still wanted the visuals to be representative of the entire School of Art & Design. We wanted to be inclusive and give every course representation, something that we felt was needed given the feedback of our fellow students.

Creating the Zine has been a memorable and fun experience for me. I feel that creating a zine is a really easy and playful way of expressing my ideas and emotions, and in this particular zine, I made it in a way to express on of my deepest feelings: anger.
All my life I have never expressed anger to anyone besides my family, but the creation of this zine has changed that. I made my zine in such a way that my audience can feel what I am feeling - the annoyance and anger towards a person really close to us.
To annoy the audience, I used a material for my cover that sticks the ink to the reader's fingers. Furthermore, I have set my layout in a way that is very unorganized and annoying, yet people would still love it. I think this may be one of my best creations yet.
Singapura
Special
In order to encourage more stray dog adoptions from shelters in Singapore, we decided to promote local strays as the National Dog. Oftentimes people choose to adopt or buy purebreds, this is largely due to the misconception that (purebreds) are generally better than mongrels.
By making local mongrels an official breed, we transcend the stigma and elevate the dogs to a level of esteem that encourages adoption. We named the breed "Singapura Special", with the intention of having it emulate the same level of dignity that other national breeds exude (e.g. the german shepherd, the british bulldog).
The brief limited us to utilizing channels that Moove Media provided. The first part of the campaign focuses on asking the general public if they know what our National Dog is.
The campaign continues with taxis, where artwork also decorates their exteriors. This time however, the installations on the taxis feature Singapura Specials juxtaposed in uniquely Singaporean settings, like queueing up at a hawker stall.
In addition, we intend to utilize the interactive screens found in a large number of taxis. The interactive screen would display a talking Singapura Special. The passenger would be able to communicate with it, as it steers the conversation to the breed and nearby shelters (through the use of geotagging).
Displays on the Dhoby Ghaut MRT wallscape and pillars would feature Singapura Specials in Singaporean home settings. An interactive screen would be placed to allow members of the public to take photos with a Singapura Special, promoting the breed as a type of local celebrity.
Further along the wallscape would be information panels that further educate the general public of the Singapura Special, helping to reduce the negative perception of strays being wild, violent, and unintelligent. After the information panels, members of the public are presented with the opportunity to add their name to a petition to the National Heritage Board, campaigning for the Singapura Special to be made into Singapore's official National Dog.
